Wow.

You know, I'm kind of glad I was spoiled for Connor, because if I weren't, I would've been a lot more upset at Joss than I already am. I'm not entirely sure why Joss wanted to do that anyway - I know it's a neat twist, but I don't know, neat isn't always great. It's like he wants all of his characters to hate their fathers, even when said fathers are sympathetic. I was honestly shocked when Fred's parents were loving and caring. It's pretty sad when, in a Joss Whedon show, that's a plot twist.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Joss Whedon - I'm just a pinch irritated at his cynicism.

One last gripe at Joss - Cordy and Angel didn't even get to kiss before Cordy went all "over the moon" on us and Angel was drowned by his own child? Really? C'mon, Joss, give Angel something to be happy about post Buffy and Connor. One moment of true happiness might make things interesting in a very bad way, but one millisecond? (And on that note, why didn't the birth of Connor cause problems? Is that not true happiness?)

I should be mad at Joss over Wesley, but you know, I'm not. I'd be interested to know what the opinion on his actions was when the show first came out. I was horrified (especially when he attacked Lorne - I'm sorry, you do not hurt Lorne if you want me to like you), but at the same time, I think it was in character for him. After all, I believe in the first or second episode we saw him (the third season of Buffy), he came very close to selling out Angel, with Giles cursing at him. I love Wesley, but the guy puts the good fight first, and he will be rash if need be. I do feel bad for him though, because even when he makes peace with Angel Investigations (if they're still that by the time he does, I believe they take over Wolfram & Hart at some point), there's no way he can possibly truly come back from that. And it sucks even more because he's a good guy who just wanted to help the only person he felt a true emotional connection with.

Now for the squee: Gunn and Fred! I love them so much. :D I love what they bring out of one another - Gunn is so sweet when it comes to Fred, and Fred's... more collected. Which sucks, because I know they'll be Joss'd. (If that's what people mean when they say "Joss'd." Is it? I'm not really in the whole Jossverse fandom, I just keep jumping from one Whedon show to another... oh wait, is that the fandom then?)

Also, I liked meeting Fred's parents, mostly because it was nice to see parents in Whedon fandom who aren't either oblivious to who their kids actually are, oblivious to the fact that they actually have kids, or who treat their children horribly.

Oh, and I forget what episode this is, but there was a scene where Cordy and Wesley start acting out what is pretty much Buffy/Angel in two seconds to explain the situation to Fred. I LOL'd.

I liked season three, for all that it was much darker, and for all that I think Joss got a bit too pessimistic. I'm almost not sure that I want to get the fourth season, though, because I know Joss Whedon's going to break my heart.

One last thing: After watching this, season six doesn't seem dark at all. :P

I think "being Jossed" originally referred to writing a (speculative) fic, and have it rendered impossible by events of the show. (Like if you wrote a fic during the season 2-3 hiatus about Fred helping Angel to deal with Buffy's death and the two of them starting a romantic relationship.) Then it started to be used about fan speculation that didn't pan out and fanon that what contradicted as well.

I love Fred's parents! Must re-watch this show soon.

Yeah, Fred's parents are such a great contrast to most Whedonverse parents. It also made a lot of sense that Fred avoided them not because she didn't love them, but because she was trying to get away from everything that had happened.

I was so deep in the Whedon/Angel/Buffy comms at that time I just had flashbacks.

I have to admit I loved Wes' evolution. He was such a bad ass after awhile I'd start panting whenever he came on screen.

This is not to say I agreed with everything he did. Not even a little.

If you watch the whole series (I strongly recommend this...it's a damn good if very uneven series) Joss will break your heart into fifty thousand pieces.

I always thought that perhaps you were. :)

I love that he's changing as a character, but not in a way that's inconsistent. I almost feel like in some ways, he fell back a bit - Wesley of Buffy season three made, or tried to make, a lot of decisions that were pretty bad too. Faith's story might have been different had Wesley not sent the Watcher's Council after her behind everyone's backs. And at one point, he suggested letting Willow die so they wouldn't have to give up what they'd stolen from the Mayor. I think Wesley was grounded after joining AI, but as soon as he was scared for Connor, he slipped back, and then he slipped even further. It's actually very tragic.

Joss will break your heart into fifty thousand pieces.

Hee - that's what I'm afraid of!

I watched Angel with my mom when I was in high school. I remember that the episode with Angel and co at the ballet was my favorite epi. But at the same time, Connor annoyed the hell out of me.

Angel and Cordelia fell in love On the Down Low, so even though there were no kisses that weren't spell-related (yet), we got some wonderful, wonderful moments, like the end of Provider.

I loved the Connor arc for Darla's angle alone. Otherwise, I saw no point in bringing a baby into the show, except to give Angel something else to lose.

In other words, Joss will hurt you.
