Re: Snape. I can, in the sober light of one year later, see a plausible argument that he's Dumbledore's man through and through (although I'm reserving judgment on whether I believe it), but my first answer was "none of the above." I think he's been serving the good side for the better part of six books, but that doesn't change the fact that he was always a man doing the right thing for the wrong reason, and I don't think this exactly makes him "good" in JKR's worldview. I also think there's a very good chance that he does fall under the spell of the Dark Arts once again during his term as DADA teacher.
Basically, I think he's the Dark Arts equivalent of a dry drunk, if that makes any sense.
Oh, and count me as astonished that there's only one other person who thinks Harry is going to return to Hogwarts as a student. I will be shocked if he does not, frankly -- what he intends at the end of HBP and what he's actually going to do are two very different things, and I think fate has a few curve balls in store for him over the summer.
*Shrugs* You do have a point, though, and I think he'd want to return. Hogwarts isn't a regular, "ew school" for him, no matter what fandom seems to think. (I hate when people apply their lives to the canon and therefore miss stuff like that - "but school sucks, man" - but that's another rant for another time).
Oh man. This takes me back. I remember having two very strong reactions while reading HBP and both involved Snape. The first was pure astonishment at his verbosity in Chapter 2: Spinner's End. I mean, seriously, who was this guy and when did he become such a blabbermouth? Then he goes and kills Dumbledore, taunts Harry a bit, and runs off with Draco. I really had to take a moment after finishing that chapter, but all I could think was Oh poor twisted and misunderstood Snape. Good or evil, there's no going back now.
And then of course, the book ended and I was really drained, so I settled back to watch POA on DVD to remember happier times.
Several things: I was really pissed off with Snape, not so much because he killed Dumbledore, but more because of the way he treated Harry - like OotP, HBP was had that world-against-Harry factor, which is naturally frustrating for the reader. For the same reason, I felt a lot of vindictiveness towards Draco as well. (that scene in the train where he breaks Harry's nose - biatch, much?!).
One of your options for Ron/Hermione is perfect for my reaction of Harry/Ginny; like the ship but didn't like how it played out. I just wanted Ron and Hermione to get together, rather than have it dragged out as messily as it did.
Remus, for me, had just the right amount of book!time. Hagrid, too, and while the whole Aragog thing became stifling, I still love him. :)
Yeah, I would've rathered Ron and Hermione just shut up and get together... but that's why I like them as a characters more than I like them as human beings. I really hope they grow up in the next book.
I was angry that people didn't like the Ron/Hermione subplot, it was one of the best things about HBP for me. Like JKR said, they both needed to grow emotionally. I think Hermione took her relationship with Ron for granted, and I think Ron needed to not have his One Twue Wove be his first girlfriend. Cause, hey, first kisses are kinda gross. Practice makes perfect!
People were actually upset that Tonks had pink hair at the funeral? But it was Dumbledore. He would have loved that nice little touch.
And H/G sailed right off into the sunset. I can't wait to see what happens for them in book seven, it's all so unresolved and delcious!

If I make myself, I can sort of see where they are coming from. And I think at most other people's funerals, it would have been disrespectful. But I agree with you - Dumbledore would have wanted Tonks to take her pink hair. I'm actually tempted to write a fic on it.
Plus, Tonks is Tonks. Her pink hair is who she is.
I was really happy that Harry and Ginny were finally together; not only that, but they were happy together (we all know their relationship is paused, not stopped). I was surprised but pleased about Remus and Tonks. I felt vindicated that Snape came from a grimy factory town, it explained a lot about his insecurities. My biggest impression on finishing the book was "Wow... I want Book 7. Wait a minute - no, I don't! That's THE LAST BOOK!"

I generally think he's his own man, but that's just me.

Anyway, great poll! :)
