Oh man. This takes me back. I remember having two very strong reactions while reading HBP and both involved Snape. The first was pure astonishment at his verbosity in Chapter 2: Spinner's End. I mean, seriously, who was this guy and when did he become such a blabbermouth? Then he goes and kills Dumbledore, taunts Harry a bit, and runs off with Draco. I really had to take a moment after finishing that chapter, but all I could think was Oh poor twisted and misunderstood Snape. Good or evil, there's no going back now.

And then of course, the book ended and I was really drained, so I settled back to watch POA on DVD to remember happier times.

Hm... well, no offense, but I don't like Snape in PoA either. GoF was the one book where I felt some sympathy.

I generally think he's his own man, but that's just me.
