We should've forseen this.
Yes, Hermione/Ron happened. And ever since then, we've been in danger of another massive flame war.
Harry/Hermione's who are flaming:
I have to say, the interview with TLC was good - but I also have to say, while Emerson, Melissa and JKR are allowed to say whatever they want, there's a reason people don't like journalists. I have a pretty good inkling that JK Rowling never meant for the "delusional" remark to get in the transcript - and I really don't think Emerson and Melissa had any business putting that in there.
That said... don't get ticked off at JKR for simply not writing H/Hr; it's her books, she can do whatever she likes. And frankly, it wasn't like she did it to smite you all. She has been planning the ship, I'm sure, since before Harry Potter fandom even existed, at least as we know it. And blaming us, and calling websites that support R/Hr names, is immature. JKR didn't type up that interview - neither did we.
And lastly - why does it matter that Harry and Hermione aren't together romantically? As far as I'm concerned, they can still love one another - they're just not in love. There's something smile-worthy about that too.
Hermione/Ron's who are gloating:
Okay, I think I have been a bit paranoid. Icons and stuff - that's one thing. But the voiced consensus that all H/Hr's are stupid anyway, and deserved what they got, still bugs me. This isn't the time to tell H/Hr shippers "well you all had it coming" and such.
Emerson's "delusional" comment was not, or so I hope, the epitome of our ship. It wasn't funny, and it didn't merit a high five and a loud cheer. It was rude. Again, with all due respect to Emerson, you at least have the tact to not let anyone see snark like that. Comments are comments - I might have said something similar about ships I dislike. But I would never actually let anyone else hear or see those comments, because I'm sure the shippers of the ships I dislike aren't all delusional. I've even seen some very well-written, if not completely believable from my viewpoint, arguments on such ships.
Besides, what exactly is wrong with H/Hr? Yes, the ones who are acting as though JKR caused rain on their parade are wrong, but is acting like JKR personally helped us all become famous any better? Besides, in all honesty, I used to be one of those delusional, H/Hr shippers.
I'm not trying to wank anyone, I'm just trying to say... the flames are getting silly.

And in that case, it'd have been more, I don't know, sane to only give us parts of the transcript. But they didn't. And life goes on.
