A little clarification

I wanted to clarify this post.
I wasn't saying that I don't understand people haven't moved on from the books. I understand that some of you are not huge fans, or at least as into the fandom anymore - there's nothing wrong with that; I've lost plenty of interests myself. (Look at Heroes - I still like the concept of the show and I love the first season, but it's no longer a huge thing for me, and I really don't care about the fandom as much as I did for a while. I really doubt anyone holds that against me.)
What I was talking about was that some people are still starting new fanfics in the Harry Potter fandom, and therefore obviously still into it; however, a lot of people are starting pre-TDH canon fics, as opposed to post TDH canon fics. I understand that some people are still working on old WIPs, and that's fine; I just don't see why more people aren't writing post TDH stuff, given all the new canon. Now that we know more about Lily's backstory, I'm surprised there's not more fics about her. Or the Dumbledores. Etc. So I was wondering why that was.
There is definitely nothing wrong with losing interest altogether. I understand why some of you did, and there's nothing wrong with that. You weren't what, or who, I was talking about.

Date: 2008-02-12 04:02 pm (UTC)As for post-DH, I've found a number of good gen stories via
There's some shippy stuff up that I've seen on recletters and newsletters, but mostly AU and slash. I'm not a slasher and AU only occasionally interests me, so I haven't checked much of it out.
But I agree that there's not much DH and post-DH era canon shippy stuff (at least not that I've seen). I mostly frequent R/T communities, and people there either focus on pre-DH or AU (for obvious reasons). So I don't know if the Ron/Hermione and Harry/Ginny people are writing much, but I certainly haven't seen it.
Plus, I haven't seen nearly enough reconstruction fics. I don't just want to read about the characters and their relationships--I'd like to see people's takes on how the Wizarding World is rebuilt, and how they rise from the loss and chaos to move forward.
So why haven't I written any of that? Lack of time. I have one old WIP that I still am trying to finish, plus, now that the excitement of the new canon has past I'm spending much more time on my original writing goals. I haven't migrated to any new fandoms, nor do I plan on it, but I kind of understand why there's been a lull.
I've written 2 Neville centric fics with the new canon (one during DH, one during his time as Professor at Hogwarts) and one explaining-Remus-During-DH fic, but that's all the DH-compliant stuff that I've managed.
(Oh--I have seen an explosion of Marauder's era Snape/Lily since that became canon, but you might not be interested in that ;)).
