Ahh, I love these memes.

Oh, how peachy keen!
... I have no idea what "peachy keen" means, or even where that came from, but it felt appropos.
I'm really not sure where to start. The tone of this makes me think it was created by one of two types:
1. An eleven year old mean girl.
2. A sad woman in her mid-thirties who misses the glory days of ruling the hallway with pocket-sized hairspray, and decided to do the Facebook version of it.
But then why would you share it? Because the game looks fun, and you barely read what it actually said? This didn't show up on my friends list (I only saw because someone commented), but I have to say, I'm not sure how eager I'd be to keep someone who posted it. Not to mention it doesn't make sense - you have to lie, but if you can't "pass this" you get unfriended? How can you pass a test you're supposed to lie on?
I will say I understand where this sort of thing comes from - the fact that a lot of the time, we do fail to correspond with FB friends. The thing is, these memes do the opposite of that. You're only responding because it's a game. Why not actually communicate with your friends? Comment on their statuses. Send random PMs just to send them. Like things.
Or you can post passive aggressive Facebook memes like you're back in middle school and rocking out to Destiny's Child with your BFFs. :)

Date: 2015-05-09 04:53 pm (UTC)I will never understand why someone would post a passive aggressive post like that and thinking that people will stick around. Who wants to be pressured into staying online friends with someone who feels the need to basically be all "follow these instructions or we're not friends anymore." I've seen this on LJ with the whole defriending thing, on Tumblr where people go "oh that's cool I make a gifset everyone likes/reblogs but a personal post nobody likes or comments on." It's just amazing how passive aggressive people can become.

Date: 2015-05-09 05:43 pm (UTC)I did have a friend once ask for Made-up how-we-met-stories just to be amusing and he gave a gift card to the best story. It was hilarious to read through the comments. Now that was a fun game. Even though I didn't win. ;)

Date: 2015-05-10 01:52 am (UTC)It's the lines that say things like If I don't get this back I'm obviously not a close friend. (or, like the one you posted that implied that I'd be defriended if I didn't do it right) that drive me crazy. Because you know what? If I was a close friend, you never would've sent me that stupid thing in the first place, because you'd know how much I hate that chain letter "you have to do X in Y amount of time or you'll suffer Z consequences" crap and you'd never have sent it to me in the first place.
Ahem.
I might have a few feelings about this topic...

Date: 2015-05-10 12:18 pm (UTC)I might ban them due to atrocious spelling and grammar before even parsing the content, personally. "Cant" - "your" - failure to close quotations marks. That last one's a huge peeve of mine. Same with parentheses. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CLOSE YOUR PARENTHESES. I *hate* that.
On the actual content--yeah, it's passive aggressive middle school dumbassery on the level with, "Do you like me? Circle 'yes,' 'no,' or 'maybe.'" You're basically trying to trick someone into saying, "No, wait, you're my friend, I like you, really!"
Rhoda has no time for that shit.

Date: 2015-05-12 12:35 pm (UTC)There's a message board I read, and someone on there has the signature: "Grammar: The difference between knowing your shit and knowing you're shit."
Rather appropriate, no?
