The fact that even though Fudge said the Wizarding World knew SIrius was innocent, nobody seemed to show any reaction.

I agree. I didn't expect much reaction from the people who already knew since they were expecting it, but I guess I was a little disappointed.

This was the Book Where Sirius Never Existed.

I swear. He got, like, three mentions.

You know what the really odd thing was? I just knew who was going to die, without even reading the book. Though I have to say, Harry seems to be taking Sirius' death too well. BTW, is Tonk's new Patronus 'Padfoot' or 'Moony'?

Am guessing that the new Patronus is Moony, since she's in love with him and all. I thought it was Padfoot at first though?

Anyway, weren't we supposed to learn why Sirius died?

I thought Sirius died to illustrate how life isn't always fair. Also... I think that Harry did react. We just didn't get to see most of the grieving process between OotP and HBP - there is mention of how he had been pretty much just lying around and staying in his room until he got the letter from Dumbledore. I'd say that was when he was coming to terms with things. Grief takes us all in different ways...

I'd also say that this may well be where his newfound maturity comes from. Harry, as seen in HBP, is much more mature in many ways that he was before.

Harry wasn't ok with Sirius dying. But... once someone is dead, they're dead, and there's nothing you can do about it. Once he came to terms with that, and with what the Prophecy pointed to his life being, there were other things to worry about. Other things to do. Did you really want to read about a Harry unable to come to terms with his godfather's death? A Harry bursting into tears every couple of pages? A Harry acting completely out of character? Harry has always been somewhat of a stalwart, and that trait hasn't changed.

If you need another example, look at the Londoners. Something terrible happens, but instead of becoming obsessed with their bad fortune, instead of panicking, or over-reacting, they got on with life.

And also, did it seem like Harry just was okay about his role in Sirius's death? I don't even like Sirius, but Harry did, and he just seemed... okay. Maybe I've been reading too much fanfic, but I thought there would be some time spent on Harry getting over that. Unless the tantrum at the end of OOTP was a cathartic, and that's all there was to that.

Yeah, that was really weird. And, like, how Harry just didn't really mull over it. I don't know if he's dealt with it fully, but I do think that he thinks he's okay with it.

I think Harry had come to terms with it - his rage in OoTP wasn't foreshadowing further angst in HBP, it was just how he felt then. And he did get upset and feel odd when Sirius was mentioned.

Hm, didn't think of that. Maybe it got caught up in all the other news and since he was already dead it didn't matter as much. OR maybe the Ministry wanted to keep that they were wrong again quiet so they just reported that he was dead.
