I guess I'm doing this. Excuse the weird way it pasted. I missed the first two days, so I'll just do them all at once.

  1. It's Friday and you have better things to do than post a blog entry. Just share something that makes you laugh.

This doesn't really make me laugh out loud or anything, but it does make me smile quizzically. A few years ago at work, I saw a school bus pull up to the curb near a store. The bus driver opened the door, and a fifty-ish year old woman stepped out. The bus drove away. It was weird. O_o

02. When did you create your LJ, and what brought you here? How did you get your username? Has it changed?

I've had a few accounts... my username is my HP fandom username, from ff.n; I made it up when I was fifteen and thought Author By Night sounded real edgy. I know better now, I should probably change it really, but I've never gotten around to it. As for this specific LJ, I originally made it because I was talking so much about Harry Potter on my other LJ, I decided to create two accounts so I didn't bore all of the non-HP fandom people. Of course, this being Harry Potter fandom's heyday, that was maybe 10% of my flist, so eventually I just stopped using it. It was[livejournal.com profile] azaelia_culnamo, by the way, if anyone's interested.

3. What was your first fandom love(s)? Your first ship(s)?

My first fandom was actually The Baby-Sitter's Club.

Shut up, they were good books. If snarkworthy in hindsight. :P

But I'd say my first real... OTP-filled, discussion-filled fandoms were the only ones I'm really active in now, Earth's Children and Harry Potter. My first "OTP" was Ron/Hermione, though I never did the whole shipwar thing. I liked Ron/Hermione, some people didn't, I had better things to worry about. Like which House I was in. (Huffleclaws FTW!) Actually, by the time the sixth book was approaching its release date, I almost wanted Hermione to end up with Viktor Krum just to shut everyone on both sides up, and I was pretty... involved with the R/Hr side of things that that point. But contrary to popular belief, it really wasn't just shipping wars. I met some of my best friends in the fandom, and really, that's where I learned how to be a good writer. My Sugar Quill beta reader - Cap'n Kathy, who I believe hated the word *squee* - taught me more about grammar and sentence structure than my Creative Writing teacher.

Earth's Children, well, I guess I shipped Ayla/Jondalar, though looking back, not really sure why.  I'm not as active in the fandom, but I still love it. I have to say, I'll always remember the time the site almost literally exploded into wank, to the point where a member said another member threatened to kill her in an RPG, and that constituted a real threat. (Or at least it was something like that. TBH I never understood the whole story, and never really cared to know.) At best, people were snippy, touchy, the whole nine Mammoths. We finally spoke up and said we'd had enough, and... we fixed it. The mods, the admins, the members. The mods and admins, for the most part, never act like they think they're above anyone - we've had a few who did IIRC, but they're gone, and I love it. The admin is amazing, and seems like she's an amazing person.

These questions look fun. I might have to do it, just because, since I'm already in the habit of blogging daily.

I'm thinking of changing my LJ username at some point too. I used to think it was cool to be named after one of my favorite bands (Kaiser Chiefs) but I'm getting a bit tired of it.

I didn't even know there was a Baby-Sitters Club fandom! But I shipped Mary Anne and Logan before I even knew what shipping was. :p
