I've become a very laid-back LJer. I'm not in any fandoms to the extent that I want to participate in comms, and I don't read much fic (although I dl'd several Katniss/Peeta and Remus/Tonks fics to my Kindle to read in the car today, WE ARE LIVING IN THE FUTURE). My "people" flist-filter itself has slowed down to, really, six or seven people who post somewhat regularly - I haven't heard from a lot of people in ages, although maybe they've just filtered me out, IDK. My "costume" flist-filter is about half as slow as the people filter, but back when more people people posted the costume:people ratio was a lot lower.

In general, it seems like LJ is slowing a bit, but the fannish part is slowing a lot faster.

I think 'waves' of popularity are normal. I have every faith that when "The Next Big Thing" comes along, people will be back.

True, though there are currently a few big things - The Hunger Games, Game of Thrones, and a few others. But maybe there's a difference between a lot of fans and large fanbases...

Yes, there isn't much fic and fan interaction in those series. I think mainly because they are finished or so far underway (by the time they caught on and got really popular). There wasn't the waiting period that Potter fans went through and subsequently bonded over while writing fic and discussing our theories.

Pretty much anything I'm into comes back to LJ in some way, so I haven't felt it dying down or anything. IMO, it's their personal part of LJ that makes them think so. People have been claiming LJ has been dying for a long time now.

I love lj and hate to see that it is, as you put it, dying. I saddens me. :(

I miss reading multiple posts from friends and posts in the multiple comms that I used to enjoy. I refuse to leave though, and will stay here till I'm kicked out. so there!

I started my livejournal to share my writing, and then I only ended up sharing a handful of stories & poems. It became a place to chronicle my life. It's attached to my real identity, so most of it is f-locked.

I started my blogspot last somewhere as a place to address something that had been on my mind for awhile. It's anonymous, so I can be more candid without locking entries. On the other hand, I can't just link it around to facebook like I do my travel writing on livejournal.

The problem with so many social media options--and having so many friends around the world--is that I've spread myself too thin.

I want the work I'm doing on blogspot to turn into a book, though, so that's where my energies are focused right now.

But I do miss the community here.
