Everyone has dirty fandom secrets or guilty pleasures or unpopular opinions. List five of yours.


1. I can't stand the term "slash." A couple is a couple - 'nuff said.

2. I used to write Baby-Sitter's Club, Sweet Valley, and Full House fanfic.

3. I don't give a damn about cast members in movies, shows, plays, etc. I watch for the story, not so I can fangirl.

4. I don't hate Dawn from Buffy. She's a teenage girl, of course she's occasionally whiny and annoying. Also see: Buffy seasons 1-2. She could be whiny and annoying. Even Willow had her moments, and this was before she was addicted to drug metaphors magic.

5. I also don't dislike River from Firefly. Or Summer Glau.

I was wondering about disliking River too. Did I miss something? How weird.

And ditto especially on #3. I don't understand slavishly watching whatever someone does just because they were attached to another project I liked. If a new effort someone is involved in doesn't sound appealing to me I give it a pass, no matter how much I liked their previous work. Loads of actors, writers and directors have things on their resumes they're not proud of. Why do I have to suffer through ALL of them?

Yeah, I don't understand why people don't like River.

Yeah. I'll sometimes follow an actor if the show's good, but otherwise... I like the storylines, not the actors. Sure, I like Nathan Filion but that's not the only reason I like Castle.

I think it's that they find her annoying and emo... I really don't. The girl's mentally unstable, so yeah, she's unpredictable and tends to cry a lot - that's what happens when you've been a human lab rat for a year or two of your life.
