So  I've gotten into this show on NBC called Community, and wanted to share my thoughts on it.

The show is about a man, Jeff, who was a lawyer but was put on probation because his degree wasn't as valid as they'd thought. To avoid being disbarred, he attends Greendale Community College. The show goes on to chronicle the mishaps of Jeff and those in his Spanish study group.

As a former community college student, I was a bit hesitant to tune into this show. However, I love how even the Spanish study group really reflects the atmosphere of a community college. The ages of the characters vary, as did the ages of the students at my school, although admittedly most were in the 16-19 age range. *

There's also a Dean in the show who loves to emphasize that it's not "loser college" over and over and over. I certainly had professors like that! "Now, don't think this class will be easy just because you're in Community College. Community College is just as valid as any other college. Got it? Good."

The humor is good - as with all comedies, there's some things that don't quite match up with my sense of humor, but for the most part, I find the show amusing. The only thing is that it can get a tad OTT .

I'd especially recommend it if:

- You've gone to community college and/or currently attend community college. It's obviously the TV version of community college, but still.

- You like The Office - the humor is along the same lines of the earlier seasons of The Office in particular.

- You loved those high school sitcoms and always wished there were more about college.

I can't wait for the show to return from break this week!

* We had a lot of homeschoolers.

I LOVE Community. It's such a fantastic show, and I love how it plays into its cliches even as it's debunking them. Plus, the humor is--well, hilarious.

I think it makes Abed's character work well, too. Even in the beginning, he pointed out how "Breakfast Club" everything seemed, which made me laugh because whenever I'm in a room with my classmates or coworkers and we're sort of sitting staring at one another awkwardly, I think of that same movie. I sometimes like to think that some of this show is Abed's own recollection, thinking back to his college days and making them a bit more movie-like. Sort of - I don't really like "and it was all a dream" endings, but still.

I really wish I'd known about this show earlier - I usually hear about shows from fandom friends and stuff, but I just happened to be searching iTunes for things to watch during a long car ride and I found Community.

You have me considering watching the show now. To be honest, before you explained it even with the name I was a little foggy on what it was about. And the fact that it's a Spanish Study Group... I had this great Spanish group my first term of Community College. So that's pretty cool.

And I agree with the fact that there are those teachers, that just hark it so much that it makes you feel weird for being there, "This is a quality school." I'm not ashamed of being at my college, but sometimes the teachers and the other students who are embarassed by it make you feel that way.

I think that there is a bit of a "loser college" stigma, but since transferring to a private college, I've met so many people who did exactly what I did. And quite honestly, I have friends who dropped out of larger colleges and wonder if they would've been better off starting at a community college.

You should definitely check the show out - you like The Office, and as I said, there's definitely the same kind of humor. I could even believe that they're in the same universe.

I've really enjoyed Community from the start. Abed is my favorite character! I especially loved it when he was doing Don Draper to come on to Annie (since Alison Brie plays the wife of Don's underling on Mad Men. :D).

Oh, Abed's great. He's a character who could so easily get annoying, but he doesn't, and I think that's what adds to it. Plus, he reminds me a bit of some people I know - not too much, obviously, Abed's way too unique for that, but I definitely know people who seem to have watched every movie and show on the planet.
