First, here.

As to who I think the people are.... well, Ron and Hermione are obvious. The redhead, though? I'm pretty sure it's Lily, just because I thought I saw  a  hint of green eyes, and it would make sense. However, I can see it being Ginny, though I think she'd be with Ron and Hermione if that were the case. (Speaking of  Ron and Hermione, was it just me being Shippy or did they seem very close together?)

I think that the "thing" is a potion of some sort.  I'd say pensieve, except that they've been used so much in the plot before.

Now, finally: anyone notice that the cover was green, and  that the rumored title of book six was "Green Flame Torch"? Ironic.... not that I think it's anything past irony, unless JKR made it green on purpose. Still, interesting.

Heh, now I'm getting *very* excited!

Oh man, I want it SO badly to be Ginny, but that's just the H/G-er in me. I mean, it could be. She just may not be next to Ron and Hermione because, in Harry's eyes, she's a different kind of friend :D
I don't think it's just you being shippy about R/Hr being very close together, although I'm certainly not unbiased enough to judge :P
I think it's a Pensieve, just because of what looks like runes around the rim. It could also be a potion, which would make it relate to the UK adult cover.
That DarkMark in it makes me very nervous.
Argh...so much to think about. I just wish July 16th would get here!!

I think it's cool we finally get new pics (well that's how I think of it) of canon Ron and Hermione. Plays up that they'll play a bigger role in this book in some way, and just friendship, yay. (So loving the Ron for some reason, the Hermione too really.) I agree that it feels more like Lily than Ginny, but we'll find out once canon comes out.

It mentions it a few times... in SS/PS, and in OoTP. She's also a rehead in the movies, but as I just ranted to someone yesterday, you can't base hair color on the movies. (I mean, they gave Petunia and Dudley dark hair, and Hermione straight, light brown hair... won't rant, won't rant, won't rant...)
