New word for "he or she"....

... "wadgen." (Short form of "whatever gender").

*Has decided this after writing "he or she" eighty seven hundred times at work today.*

I use "s/he" or "they". (The former being reserved for more formal use.)

You're actually not supposed to use "they" in formal writing to refer to one person of inspecific gender.

I used to write agen. (any gender) whenever I got sick of he or she. Wadgen's cooler. Although first I thought you were trying to pronounce wagon with an accent. *dense*

Hmm....why would 'wadgen' have a 'd' in it? Where does the 'd' come from? Wouldn't it be watgen? Eh well. Far be it from me to....correct made up words. Just wondering. Heh heh.

How come you can't just use he? I was always taught that it's the general to use when you have to deal with both genders in singular. Shrugs, sometimes that alternation occurs, he then she, which is even weirder.

I've never been bothered by the whole "he or she" thing. I had a teacher once who wrote her dissertation just using "she". I thought that was kickass.
