Now, for something even more random... what do you lot think is worse: OOCness or bad OC's?

Bad OCs, definitely. OCs are the fanfic author's creation: it's their own character, we get to point and laugh offer concrit and know that the canon characters are (mainly) unharmed. However, with OOCness, the characters we once knew and loved are all totally different and corrupted. I'd rather see a Mary Sue come to Hogwarts than Hermione turn into the Hogwarts Prom Queen.

There is no shame in being a canon nazi. We're known as something else...oh! Purists! ^__^;; Although that more applies to when a book is adopted to a film / anime is dubbed. Still, purism is nothing to be ashamed of; is it so wrong to want a character in character?

OOCness actually bothers me more, because I can't stand to read anything that butchers a character I love. To me, that makes the story completely unbelievable which equals badfic.

OOC-ness is worse. The second I see anything resembling OOC-ness, I'm done. Whereas, with a bad OC, you can kind of tune them out. But OOC-ness isn't why you're reading the fic for the fandom in the first place. (Is that alliteration?)

Usually, however, the two go hand in hand. ;__;

Out of character-ness is worse, I think, because it's jarring. It's like, no, they wouldn't be like that! For bad original characters, it's just bad.
