Fandom seems to have a  slightly worrying theory. The theory states this: Tom is a sex God that slept with Ginny, and is in no way really easy. I even saw a poster at a messageboard that will remain unnamed say she hopes "Tom won't die in book seven."

Okay. Let me state this: I do not think Voldemort is pure evil, because I don't think anyone is pure evil. And I have nothing against people who like him because of his complexity, and even think they know why he is the way he is. That's fine. If you think he really is a sex God, however, I'm warning you: you may not like this entry. Also, I bring up some

First, I want to bring up the idea that Tom and Ginny had sex - and that this was a good thing. My question is: how is a sixteen/seventeen year old having sex with an eleven year old romantic? It sounds like statutory rape to me. Not only that, but eleven is pretty young to be having sex to begin with. I was still playing with barbies and reading The Baby-Sitter's Club at eleven. Granted, they do seem to mature faster (in some ways), but they don't seem to mature as fast in other ways, including romantically.

Onto the idea that he was so sexy, his evilness doesn't matter. I can see him pretending to be in love, but being in love itself... never. Girls would catch on, and it would never work unless the girls didn't realize - but even then, it would be a sad fic for that reason, not a happy one. JK Rowling herself has stated that Voldemort never loved anyone, because he never knew it.

Want to give Voldemort a "lover", but have him only use her as a tool? If you can make it work, sure. But don't tell me you think he's a great sex God because he's mentioned as being handsome as a boy. It doesn't work like that.

(If anyone wants me to rant about something else next, please let me know!)

THANK YOU.

Yes, the young Tom Riddle was supposed to be "handsome" and charming. He became Head Boy, got a school award, etc. Many sociopaths do have that ability to cover up their essential lack of a soul with charm and achievement. They know how to snow-job. Tom Riddle, in his Hogwarts days, managed to snow-job almost everyone except, it appears, Dumbledore (and I wager McGonagall as well; she was a smart girl and I bet she wasn't really fooled by Tom's act).

I think it's great to delve into the complexity of Tom's character, and to explore what makes him tick, what his school days were like, how he became Voldemort, etc. But remember - JKR said this herself - he never loved anyone. He may have had a girlfriend or two but he never loved them! He'd use women for trophies or for sex or whatever and then coldly break it off. Tom Riddle was NOT Fitzwilliam Darcy or even Heathcliff! He was NOT a romantic hero! He. Was. A. Sociopath. Like Ted Bundy. He was capable of murder even as a teenager. Sound like the kind of boy you want to bring home to mum?

In the CoS episode, I think that while Tom did violate Ginny mentally, and one could say it was a rape of sorts, nothing sexual happened. At any rate, Ginny was only eleven. If Tom were to have sex with her that wouldn't be romantic, that would be statutory rape. Blech.

Yes, I'm just a Gryffindor at heart. :) I can definitely understand the appeal of "bad boys" like Sirius Black, and yes, I'm sure I would have fallen hard for Sirius were he a real character and I in his universe, but Sirius, unlike Tom Riddle, was capable of love. Tom was scary, and while I don't want to stop writers from penning Tom stories or even Tom romances if that floats your boat, if I see Tom Riddle depicted as Ginny's or Minerva's fluffy-wuffy snoogy oogums, I will click the "back" button.

Did all your post make it to the Internet? 'Cause there seem to be bits missing.

But for the content, AMEN TO THAT! Tom didn't love. Tom would never do something so selfless as love. He never understood it, not even in the smallest grain, and that's what makes him Voldemort. Any girl who had sex with him would likely find herself cruelly dumped and scarred for life.

Makes me wonder if people realize the depth and depravity that hatred can reach.
