So, here goes: "first fandom thing" meme.

Note: Yes, I know, my first fic is pretty bad. Writing styles change, remember that, okay? ;) (But feel free to laugh, it's hilariously awful).

Fanfiction

First fic(s) read: Mena Baines's Hermione fic (not sure of the title), Dumbledore's Diamond, Violet's Story, Draco Dormiens, Snapdragon & Prongs, Lily, The Ariana Black fics, Harry Potter and the Deathday Curse, Sisters, My Name Is Sirius Black, Hermione, Queen of Witches Book One, Lessons for Life.

First favorite authors: Tropical Fishy, Mena Baines, Aria*, Gileonnen, Malena, Kaydi, firewings, Ariana Black, Arabella.

First sites: hagridshut.com (now as alive as Aragog), The AOL Harry Potter Messageboards, The Unofficial Harry Potter Website, fanfiction.net, besthpfanfiction.com (or something like that), and a bunch of other Harry Potter sites that I forget the name of.

Fandom Participation

First fandom groups (fic yahoo groups, email listings, etc): An AOL Harry Potter RPG group, METMA. (Ah, METMA... any other META veterans out there? I know Quackwack and GinnyHaha are).

First frequented messageboard/fandomy area: The AOL Harry Potter boards, the fanfiction.net boards.

First fic you wrote? Oh man, this one makes me die of laughter and humiliation. The Ball Horror. I also wrote two other fics, both of which have been taken down. If this one was under my current name, I'd beg to have it taken down.

On the other hand, it's quite amusingly awful.

Random

Who are your oldest fandom friends that you still speak to? Ginnyhaha, Telepwen, Gileonnen, and occasionally I'll see someone else online or on LJ. Then there's people who wrote fics or essays that I befriended later on, like Ashavah and Ariana Black.

Do you think your taste in fics have changed? Hmm... *notes that most of the favorite fics are MWPP era and/or OCs.* Not really. ;) Although I don't really read MWPP era fics anymore, but I do love a good Remus fic, and the main reason I don't read a lot of MWPP era fics is because a lot of them are OoTP/HBP friendly versions of earlier Marauder fics. So if I find a good original Marauder fic, or one that's cliche but with it's own twist, I'll read it.

I also used to be a "Snape is misunderstood!" person, and I mean to the extreme. OoTP changed that, because I realized he's still an abusive git. (Good side or not, this is not a nice man, and at the moment I'm not sure he's on either side).

Would you ever rewrite one of your older fics? Maybe one of the one shots, but quality (or lack thereof) aside, a first fic is a first fic. There's something special about that.
