New Challenge
Dec. 27th, 2005 08:04 amWe all whine about how bad certain fics are. American Transfer fics, Angsty OC fics, etc. There's also fics that aren't "universally" considered badfic, but that we ourselves would refuse to read if there's a gun at our heads.
What if such storylines worked?
So, here's my challenge: write an idea you consider cliche, annoying, or plain implausible, and flesh it out. Make the plotline somehow work.
The preferred deadline is April 27th of '06, but I will be accepting fics earlier and later. I'll link to submissions periodically, and then, between April 28th-30th, do a master list.
Let me know if you have questions in email! (Not comments please, unless you comment within four days of this being posted. I sometimes don't see them).

Date: 2005-12-28 02:35 am (UTC)I actually have an ongoing project (as in, I've been working on it for over 2 years and will probably *still* be working on it when Rowling finishes book 7, because I'm horrendously slow and keep getting distracted) that deliberately employs a few beloved cliches, in particular the exchange cliche, the American student cliche, and the wandless magic cliche (among others), so I think I'll pass on putting myself through it again. But I hope you get some good responses. :-)
