We all whine about how bad certain fics are. American Transfer fics, Angsty OC fics, etc. There's also fics that aren't "universally" considered badfic, but that we ourselves would refuse to read if there's a gun at our heads.

What if such storylines worked?

So, here's my challenge: write an idea you consider cliche, annoying, or plain implausible, and flesh it out. Make the plotline somehow work.

The preferred deadline is April 27th of '06, but I will be accepting fics earlier and later. I'll link to submissions periodically, and then, between April 28th-30th, do a master list.

Let me know if you have questions in email! (Not comments please, unless you comment within four days of this being posted.  I sometimes don't see them).

Have you heard of the new community, potter cliche or something?
d_s was advertising it, mighht be worth a look. And [livejournal.com profile] icandobetter is dead, but it was spun off of deleterius on the same premise, and it got some really awesome fic written for it.

Here from [livejournal.com profile] hogwarts_today. It's an interesting challenge, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you get in response.

I actually have an ongoing project (as in, I've been working on it for over 2 years and will probably *still* be working on it when Rowling finishes book 7, because I'm horrendously slow and keep getting distracted) that deliberately employs a few beloved cliches, in particular the exchange cliche, the American student cliche, and the wandless magic cliche (among others), so I think I'll pass on putting myself through it again. But I hope you get some good responses. :-)

Are you from FAP or somewhere? Your name looks VERY familiar...

I am on FAP, though you'll only see me on the "Help! I'm looking for..." and (though not recently) the Author Recommendations subfora. More than likely you've seen me commenting on other journals -- looks like we have several friends in common.

Fascinating challenge, and the only way I could participate is if Bring Sirius Back from the Dead is a cliche. X_x

But -- kudos for coming up with this. I wonder what people will write.
