Seven Random Facts About Harry Potter

Years and years ago there was a Twenty Random Facts meme where you wrote twenty random facts about Harry Potter characters. I've decided to do that for Harry, set five years after the war. I'm going to stick to seven random facts.
Spoilers for the last book.
1. Harry still considers the Weasleys his family, but he and Ginny have also found a second family in Andromeda Tonks, Lyall Lupin, Teddy Lupin, and Neville and his grandmother. There are no familial equivalents - Andromeda isn't a mother figure, and Teddy is a combination of much younger brother and nephew, as opposed to specifically one or the other. Never having had any of those things exactly, Harry doesn't mind. They are who they are, and Harry couldn't be more grateful.
2. After the war, Harry and Ginny hit a rough patch, even casually dating other people; it was too hard to pick up as though nothing had changed after the war. But they started over - with the help of Ron and Hermione, whose love never stopped blossoming - and couldn't be more in love.
3. One of Harry's brief flings was with Daphne Greengrass, a Slytherin who became an Auror after school. It didn't work out, but they're still friends.
4. Harry's first act as Auror was to erase Sirius's name from the Wizarding Criminal Registry. When Harry asked Kingsley why it wasn't already done, Kingsley told him "we thought you should be the one to do it."
5. Harry still has nightmares. Ginny's used to it; too used to it. He once confided into Dumbledore's portrait, to which Dumbledore's portrait replied: "if you didn't have nightmares after all you'd endured, you wouldn't be human."
Sometimes, he wishes he weren't human.
5. Harry refuses to speak to Vernon and Petunia Dursley, but he does see Dudley from time to time. He now realizes Dudley was a victim of a very different kind of mistreatment, and admires Dudley for trying to be better than his parents, even if their traits sometimes seep through.
7. It's hard for Harry to explain to others why he separates "Severus Snape" from "Professor Snape." Especially Neville. In his mind, they are almost two different people; the boy his Mum was friends with, who tried to save her life, and the bitter, mean Potions professor who was a Death Eater. He thinks he might even name one of his children after him someday. Severus, to be clear - not Snape.
I'll probably do a few of these! Let me know if there's anyone in particular you'd like seven - or more - facts about!

Date: 2017-08-01 12:27 am (UTC)I am particularly fond of Harry and Dudley having some kind of positive relationship as adults.
And I strongly, strongly agree with #1. I would add Luna and her dad to the mix except I think that he would forever be ashamed at selling Harry out.
