Harry Potter

1. The first character(s) you first fell in love with:

(I'm doing each book, since we meet new people... and my opinions have changed on some in each).

SS/PS: Hagrid. He just reeked with coolness. (And  okay,  I found him funny too...)

CoS: Nobody, really.

PoA: See above. (I found Remus interesting, but I'll get into that later).

GoF: See above.

OoTP: This might sound shocking  - Harry. I felt like this was the  book where he actually gave a  darn  about stuff, and it was  apparent from the first chapter. I also loved Tonks from the moment she appeared with her "violent shade of violet" hair.

HBP: Nobody new  that I was appealed to  was introduced in the first five chapters.

2. The character(s) you never expected to love as much as you do now:

   A. Remus. I thought he was cool enough at the time, but I didn't really have any... interest in him.  Then I decided I felt a bit sorry for him in fanfic, since  he mostly got ignored or was reserved for the angsty scenes, and I went to write a  fic on him.

 B. Sirius. I have a confession: even at the beginning of GoF, I half expected him to really be guilty after all. I just didn't trust him. Then after he was willing to go to England for Harry... I gained respect for him. Now I don't fangirl him; in fact, I don't love him as a person. I think he sounds like a  guy who was a control freak in school - there was a reason  everyone thought he'd  turn. But I love how layered the guy is.

C.  Neville. Pre-GoF,  meh, didn't care one way or another. But after, I felt sorry for him, and realized  how strong  the guy is.

D. McGonagall. In  the first few books, she's shown pretty much as the obligatory strict teacher. But in OoTP and HBP, she just... rocked.

3. The character(s) everyone else loves that you don't:

A. Snape. I don't think the guy  was  being a martyr in HBP; I think he's on whatever side best suits his purposes at the time. Except now, at least one side is no longer an option.  I doubt he cares.

B. Draco. I do think he may be having doubts about his choice, but I don't think he'll ever be a good person. Or even a likeable one.

4. The character(s) you love that everyone else hates:

A. Hagrid. Why is there so much Hagrid hate? Granted, I wish we saw more of the Hagrid we saw  in PS/SS and  GoF too, but that doesn't mean he's Jar Jar Binks.

B. Tonks. Oh come on, what did she do wrong? (Besides being the very type of  character Mary Sue Litmus Tests screamed  about pre-OoTP  and loving Remus in HBP, I mean).

5. The character you used to love but don't any longer:
I... uhhhh.... used to be a  Snape fan,  and thought the song "Amazing Grace" well suited him. Yeah, I know - hey, 'twas blind,  but now  I see! (Okay, that joke is even sicker than thinking the song suited him).

Earth's Children

1. The first character(s) you first fell in love with:

COTCB: Ayla, Iza and Creb. Who wouldn't love them?

VoH: Nobody. I thought Jondalar was  a waste of space <strike>and sometimes,  I still do.</strike>

TMH: Rydag and  Nezzie.

PoP: Wolf, mostly because I fet sorry for him. (Animals are characters too!)

SoS: .... no comment.  <strike>Well, maybe Folara Sue.</strike>

2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now:

A.  Ranec. I used to be in the "he was a jerk" camp, but after attempting to write a TMH-centric fic, I realized that he really got the short end of the stick.  Yes, he had his bad  points, but Ayla basically strung Jondalar around, and in a way, used Ranec. And Jondalar didn't seem clued into the idea that a rape victim might be afraid to resist sex(especially if that rape had been acceptable in her culture).

B. Brun. I used to think he was a  bit of a jerk, but now  I  see him as someone who was torn between instinct  (at least, that's how I interpreted it) and doing something that seemed right. And often, he was willing to make allowances.

3. The character everyone else loves that you don't:

Not sure, everryone's so divided on that, and there's no Broud or Attaroa fangirling (that I know of. If there is, please shoot me now).

4. The character you love that everyone else hates:

Ranec.  See  2A.

5. The character you used to love but don't any longer:

Ayla. Her Sueness is annoying me. I'm also not as big on Jondalar as I was  before.

Ya Ya Books

1. The first character you first fell in love with:

Sidda. I saw the movie first,  and when I opened up the book, I was  so... amazed. The movie  made Sidda this raving Wangst Queen; book!Sidda is someone I am capable of respecting.

2. The character you never expected to love as much as you do now:

Hmm... Well, Ya-Yas in Bloom gave me a whole new  respect for Caro, if only for one speech.

3. The character everyone else loves that you don't:

Hmm... I've only been to one messageboard, and I don't go much... there doesn't seem to be much character wank. I'm surprised by people who seem to think Vivi's a wonderful person - I disagree with that.  She's  fascinating, yes, and she has lovely moments, but Vivi's not a nice lady. There's a reason only Shep stayed at Pecan Grove,  and a reason only Baylor stayed near.

4. The character you love that everyone else hates:

I wouldn't say anyone hates her, but I've seen Genevive get a lot less admiration.  How can  one not love Genvieve?

5. The character you used to love but don't any longer:

Well, after the movie, I  figured the time Vivi went abusive on her kids was  a mental  breakdown; after reading the books... let's just say that if  I were one of her kids, she wouldn't look after my children much. I don't know if  I completely trust her.

*Whew!* Okay, now to visit KtB's LJ party... I'm doing Wicked and  To Kill  A Mockingbird later!
