It actually just occurred to me that they could be trying to make it more like tumblr, which has the heart symbol and "notes" (which are basically the same thing as "likes", I think). So that might be what it is. I really hope not- I don't want to wake up one morning to find out you can't even leave comments anymore. (Although I think even LJ must realize what a big part comments play. Then again, maybe not.)
