I did not miss shippy drama

Dear JK Rowling.

What's that you said about poking a sleeping dragon in the eye?

Oh yeah.

I still love you, though. And Ron/Hermione. I'm not even convinced this isn't being taken out of context.

Love,

Me

No matter what Rowling says, I'll still ship Ron/Hermione. I'm just hoping this doesn't start another shipping war in the HP fandom.

I really can't imagine... I think most of the rabid shippers (on both ends) have moved on, although I'm sure this will bring some of them out of the woodwork. I belong to the FB group of an old Harry Potter site, and there's some noise there, although so far it's mostly just four or five of us making it. I definitely don't think we need another shipwar... that got so riddikulus (pun intended) and then just irritating.

I really hope this leads to fic. The underdog ship and canon? Bring on the fic, fandom!

Harry/Hermione fic, you mean? There's tons of that already.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think she means now that JKR apparently doesn't like Ron/Hermione as much as we thought, it'll become more popular because she doesn't.

I've got to admit that I don't understand that logic.

[identity profile] bitchet.livejournal.com 2014-02-02 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Because fandom is very contrary. The first example that comes to mind is Pansy's increase in popularity after JKR trashed her and said Draco married Asteria Greengrass. Now it's all Pansy Sue as far as the eye can see.

+1

The noncanon ships always seem to be more popular.

[identity profile] bitchet.livejournal.com 2014-02-02 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Ron/Hermione all the way.

[identity profile] chocolatepot.livejournal.com 2014-02-02 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
I admit, even though I was losing my mind (still am), I still think there's a very good chance it's taken out of context, misrepresented, or just plain made up. This may be delusion.

[identity profile] bitchet.livejournal.com 2014-02-02 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Heh, delusional.

I do think it's taken out of context.

[identity profile] author-by-night.livejournal.com 2014-02-02 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if we read the actual article tomorrow (or if JKR releases some sort of statement) and it made a bit more sense.

If shipping R/Hr is wrong ...

I'll chose to think it's out of context until I know otherwise.

It's really pissing me off, esp when its creating a lot of unneeded drama, and bringing out a really ugly side to people I previously respected (in terms of giving them license to bash Ron).

[identity profile] author-by-night.livejournal.com 2014-02-02 02:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Why do people hate on Ron? Seriously, why? Yes, Ron has issues, and I do think the whole trio would've been screwed up after the war and would probably all have needed counseling, but Ron was also the heart of the group, the one who kept everyone sane. How can people hate the guy? I don't think I'll ever understand, I've been asking myself since 2000 what the Ron hate was all about, but I personally love the hell out of Ron.

IT HURTS IT HURTS

RON IS THE BEST AND THIS SUCKS.

Well, the thing is... that it is what it is. She can't take it back, no matter what she says now! It's written in the books. The book series is done. I've always shipped Ron/Hermione.

[identity profile] effervescent.livejournal.com 2014-02-02 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
Tbh I just kind of found this all amusing, haha. It doesn't change the books or what I came away from canon with, though it does make me a bit puzzled as to why she thinks H/Hr would have been more logical... We'll see what the actual article says when it comes out.

[identity profile] ragnarok-08.livejournal.com 2014-02-02 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
I still ship Ron/Hermione :)
