People think it's funny?

Even if she hadn't had an incredible voice (holy cow, what a voice!), she was a human being, and I'm staggered that she was only 48. I dread all the inquiries and stuff that'll happen now, when her family and friends will be mourning.

Some people are so thoughtless. Fortunately, most of my FB friends have simply posted that they're sad. Her death IS sad. A couple of people wrote about the tragedy of drug and alcohol abuse, but they didn't think the death was funny.

One bozo made a comment on another friend's status about "booger sugar" but my friend shot him down immediately. She was so young!

Agreed, there is nothing funny about it at all, but she does not deserve the deification she is receiving from the radio stations and all over FB, LJ and who knows where else. Yes, she was a talented performer, but she made some very bad choices and spiraled into the inevitable. I didn't hear this wailing and gnashing of teeth last week when Etta James passed away.
