Fandom: Harry Potter
Title: Hair
Characters: Andromeda, Dora Tonks, Alice Longbottom
Dora loved her black hair, and Alice loved it even more.
When Alice babysat, she always did Dora's hair even though Dora could do it herself. Dora didn't mind - she liked letting someone else play with it for a change. If nothing else, it gave her ideas. Dora would hold Neville as Alice combed, braided, and added a pretty bow for good measure.
Alice was Dora's hero; she was an Auror, and Dora knew it made her brave. Mum wasn't to know, but she wanted to be an Auror herself someday.
One day, Aunt Bellatrix killed Alice and Frank, leaving empty shells behind in a small hospital room. Dora hated her family, and she hated the hair they'd given her.
Mum dyed her hair brown, and Dora started making her hair brown too, because she hated looking like them. Very rarely did she remember that it wasn't her natural color.
She did remember that Alice had liked it best when it was pink.
Title: Mustache (or, No More Excuses to Hide)
Fandom: Firefly
Characters: Wash/Zoe
"It's a good restaurant."
Zoe gave the annoying pilot a look. "No money."
"You just stole a bunch from a millionaire."
"Which is why we have to leave early tomorrow."
"It's five o'clock," Wash pointed out.
"I'm not going on a date with you," Zoe said.
"Yes, you are," Wash said. "You love me. I know you do, because you said so last week."
"I was upset, you were about to get shot!"
"You've never told the Captain you love him, and he's always about to get shot."
"Besides," Zoe continued, "you have a mustache."
"Is that it?" Wash asked, raising his eyebrows.
Zoe didn't want to admit that it was really because she was afraid to open herself up to anyone, so she nodded.
Wash disappeared into the bathroom, and Zoe collapsed onto a chair, covering her face.
Ten minutes later, Wash came out of the bathroom, skin where his mustache had been.
"Now you have no more excuses to hide," he said.
Zoe rolled her eyes. "Fine. I'll go on one date with you, and then you'd do well to give it a rest."
She hoped he wouldn't.
Title: Columbia
Fandom: Community
Characters: Jeff, two Original Characters
"So where did you go to school?"
Jeff didn't like Daniel Nelson, the new lawyer at the firm. First of all, he should have graduated with him, which meant he would get caught if he asked where Jeff went to school. Secondly, Daniel Nelson asked where Jeff went.
The receptionist, Sophie, piped up, "didn't you go to Columbia, Jeff?"
"Columbia, huh?" Daniel said. "What a coincidence, I was the class of 1999."
"That's when Jeff graduated," Sophie said.
"Hm," Daniel said. "I don't remember a Jeff Winger."
Jeff drank his coffee slowly, vowing never to let Sophie into his office again, even if she did promise him a night of dirty office politics.
