Writer's Block: Snark, who goes there?

I had a long response to this, but LJ went weird. Is it lagging for anyone else when they try and post something?
I think that online, everyone says things they wouldn't say in person, but more so to strangers and acquaintances than online friends. Sometimes that's good, sometimes it's not so good. I know I've said things I wish I hadn't, but I think I've also said things that I don't regret saying them because you know what? People need to learn not to get their knickers in a twist all because someone on the internet disagreed with them.
Friendships, however... I don't know. I do think it's a bit easier to say things, yes - and there are things, kind and very unkind alike, that I've said to friends I would never say to their faces. But I think the bigger problem in those cases can be online politics, as well as normal friendship politics, but that's a whole other post.
