Perhaps out of context, my post doesn't make sense.
Really the problem was that someone I know of was using the friends lists of her flisters to link to a post that discussed a particular LJ pet peeve.
So, basically, it's to the equivalent of if I was reading updates from your friends, and saw that one of them used the word "u" for "you" in her entry... and decided to link to another LJ post discussing why netspeak is annoying. It would be putting you, as a mutual friend of ours, in an awkward position, and it's also butting into something that would be none of my business.
I hear you though. I have problems like that on Facebook, TBH - my family's on it now, so it's not like I can mention them without filtering. And while I do filter my notes, I'm still paranoid that somehow there'll be a glitch.
