Sad news

As I was reading my flist, I came across some sad news. A fellow fandomer, Katie O'Brien - not KatieOWrites -  has died of cancer. (I wanted to make that clear, not in disrespect to this Katie's memory, but to make sure nobody who knows the other Katie panics).

I never knew her, and yet, I feel affected in some way. Katie, rest in peace.

Warm heart

Determined soul

May you rest in Heaven

And may the words you wrote

The lives you touched

Remain within those who love you

Last longer than time itself

Oh, that's so sad. I never knew her, but still. It would be so horrible if one of you guys died. Actually, I've talked to my sister about it and we've arranged for her to post an entry for me if anything ever happened. I would hate to just vanish and leave you guys wondering here I went.

I've thought about that too. Now when people don't post for a long time I get a little nervous.
I don't know what to say about Katie. Anything I try to say usually sounds stupid. I'll just say "I send my condolences"

Yeah - I've had online friends disappear, and I still don't know what happened to them four years later. Its scary.

What sad news. I didn't know her either (I have to say I'm tremedously relieved it's not our KatieOWrites) but it's never nice to hear about someone dying, even if you only know this person from the fandom.

I hope her RL loved ones and fandom friends are all OK.

Wow. You always hear about this stuff but you never really imagine it until it comes so close to you.

That's really sad. :( Reminds me of that poor poor woman on AB who lost both her husband and son on one day.

Oh, I know... :( I never know what to say when people tell me things like that. "I'm sorry" sounds so phony - that's what you're *supposed* to say.
