I guess I found the books more realistic than a lot of people. I think it *could* have been my hometown, Bella could be me or a girl I know.
In regard to another comment, I don't think of it as Bella throwing her life away either. As a feminist I think it's about choice. Everyone is pressuring Bella with their own philosophy, but the choice she wants isn't really an option yet. I don't think she's changed at all to fit anyone's idea of who she should be. She's staying very true to herself.
Ah well. I guess I just don't think it's getting a fair shake.
