Twenty Random Character Facts
iulia_linnea is holding a random character facts fest, and so I am going to be doing assorted facts for assorted characters over the next few days. For those of you whom have not finished the book, please note that there will be huge spoilers regarding the conclusion of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.Today's featured character is don't-call-me-Nymphadora-Tonks.

(Yes, this is present tense, because it is Tonks a little bit before the ending of TDH.)
Title: Twenty Random Facts about Nymphadora Tonks.
1. Tonks originally went as "Dora", but changed her nickname to Tonks at sixteen because she felt it suited her pink hair better.
2. Tonks always had a soft spot for Remus, from the moment she laid eyes on him when she was six and Sirius introduced her to him.
3. Part of what makesTonks a good Auror is that she has no sleeping pattern; she believes people who sleep a lot are time wasters. She is appalled by Remus's tendency to be a deep sleeper, and always teases him that he'd sleep through a Dementor attack.
4. Nobody realizes this, but Tonks is still in contact with her grandmother, Druella Black. She never understood why Mum forced her to see the woman for tea every other sunday when she was little, but sometimes Tonks thinks it's because her Mum believes Druella cares, somewhere deep inside, despite what she says about her father.
5. Tonks is, however, not in contact with Narcissa Malfoy. She considers her the real "blood traitor" in the family.
6. Tonks had always hoped her child would not be a metamorphmagus; she feels her powers have become a burden, making her a possible target for Death Eaters who would love to make good use of them, not to mention that they always made her a little confused regarding her identity.
But now with Teddy born, she can only focus on how it makes him special.
7. When Remus tried to insist on being noble and not dating Tonks because it was a "dangerous situation", Tonks wondered if he realized she was related to Bellatrix, and thus already in a dangerous situation.
8. Tonks wanted to give Teddy Sirius's name as his middle name, but realized it was something that should be saved for Harry's son.
It only makes her wish even more that she had been as close with Sirius, as selfish as she knows it is.
9. Tonks originally started saying "wotcher" to take the mickey out of her grandfather, who used it with frequency, as a joke with her friends; then he died, and she began to use it in a serious manner.
10. One of Tonks's favorite party tricks is to grow her nose large and long, and try and balance various objects on it.
11. Tonks prides herself on the fact that although she is clumsy on the ground, she can fly a broom very well. She is horrible at Quidditch, but flying itself comes naturally to her.
12. As much as Tonks loathes Narcissa Malfoy and everything she stands for, she sometimes wishes she had a normal relationship with her aunt, that her aunt was supportive and loving. She wishes for this more than ever when her father dies, and her Mum has barely anybody to lean to.
13. Tonks once considered joining Charlie and a friend of theirs in Romania to study dragons; but she felt studying dark wizards was more important, because they had done more than enough to ruin her family.
14. Tonks never believed Sirius was pure evil, because her mother didn't; Andromeda had always maintained something was missing, and Tonks agreed. How could someone who loved James Potter that much have killed him?
15. Tonks isn't sure what she believes in terms of spirituality, but she is thoroughly convinced there is a reason she and Remus are connected in so many ways.
16. Tonks was never very close with Sirius, in normal terms; when she saw him as a child, they were very close, but she hardly ever did see him. But they grew an odd closeness while he was on the run, and on his good days at Grimmauld.
There is not a day where Tonks doesn't miss him.
17. Tonks hopes that by the time her son is two, the war will be over so he can have a normal childhood.
