I hadn't heard about this until I saw your LJ post, and I have to say I nearly had a heart attack... it's one of the things I'm afraid of the most, that there will be another attack on NYC while I'm out here in california and I won't be able to reach my family...
I called them and freaked out into the phone for a while - of course, there was no problem at all - but still, it's so scary, isn't it?
