A very quick thought: I love how in charge of her sexuality Inara is. YES YES YES. I never saw the whole demeaning part, really. I mean, sure, Mal looks down on her, but it's also very obvious that that's an issue on his part, probably at least as much to do with the fact that he likes her as it has with jer job.
