Fandom's Dumbest Criminal List:

The girl who stole a fic... that is well known in at least two fandoms

You can read the original here.

Really... how dim can one get? Not that plagiarizing is ever good, but... sheesh, even people who aren't into fandom know the Diaries!

I know people in RL who've heard of that fic! *shakes head incredulously*

Another People Are Stupid story for you: the sophomores at my school are supposed to write seven different forms of poetry for lit--well, some very smart person copied theirs from the textbook. Another person printed out Frost from the internet.

... I've never heard of it.

al;skdjkljlgjasgd The textbook? That is really stupid. I don't have too many bad plagarism stories to tell except for the idiots who decide "hey, I will just copy this assignment of my older brother/sister who did it last year" when their older brother/sister had the same teacher. *headdesk*

Perhaps she thought she was being ironic?

Did she think that just because she didn't copy it word for word it doesn't count as plagiarism?
The "or most of this story" remark in her disclaimer sort of sounds like she's admitting she stole it, but it's still a half-assed knockoff of the original.

It is pretty much word for word, though.

And yeah, sort of admitting, but still. She shouldn't have done it in the first place, and we don't see her crediting CC.

Even my sister who is not in fandom has heard of the story by CC. What was she thinking copying like that.

*Laughs*

Maybe! If she wasn't, well, it certainly is still ironic.

Oh man. *Shakes head*

My Creative Writing Professor last semester told us a story of this girl who plagiarized a song, and said it was hers. When my Professor pointed out she'd heard the song and it was one she really liked, the girl flat out denied that she had plagiarized.

No, I'm not cruel. Really. *whistles innocently*
