Don't feel dorky, Amy. It's a beautiful thing that something like a book can bring so much out in someone. In your case, I'll bet it was what helped you hone your writing skills; in mine... well, I was never one to write fics (did you ever read what I sent? Ain't it awful? Hehe)... Anyway, I was never one to write like that, even though I wanted to, but at least it gave me something to dream about... Heck, Harry Potter was the manifestation of the world I'd always dreamt about, even before it came out! Sure, given the time in which it did - what I was going through - a number of reasons could be given as to just why I liked the books so much, but the thing is, I did (and do, even though it's "settling" down) like them. We all do. And that's what's brought all us fans together, people from all over the world that would otherwise never have known the other existed, but that have had such an unexpected impact...
Now how many times can you say that about things nowadays? :)
