This entry was initially a commemoration of Matthew Shepard; however, it came to my attention that his parents had apparently requested people stop passing around the picture of him with a quote in their blogs. Even though it may not be true, I'd rather not disrespect the grief of his parents - especially as really, I can see their point now that I think of it.

I will say, however, that I think violence against homosexuals - and anyone people consider to be too different for their liking - needs to stop, and that we should take some form of action, even if it seems small.

Of course - apparently the picture wasn't something the parents apprerciated, so I erased it, but there's still a little note.

you know, I heard that it was requested that this didn't get passed around anymore. Everytime the BF and the family see it they are reminded as well and they asked not to. I don't think that anyone asked them if something like this could start in the first place.
