Want them for updating your LJ and replying to comments? It's your right.

But please don't use your Kermit-humping-a-plushie or naked-man-sitting-in-chair icon to post in a group, or comment on someone elses's post. Not all people really need to see it. If its your own LJ, as I said before, that really is one thing - people can choose who they view on their flist. But otherwise... no.

As halegirl pointed out - sometimes people read LJ at work, and a not-worksafe icon might get the reader in trouble.

Besides the worksafe thing why does it bother you so much? You don't have a problem with profanity nor voilent icons, just sexual ones?

Also, is it possible to turn icons off or block them? I kind of would like to do so, but I really don't know how.

Because I don't want my parents walking in. Plus, its just... I don't know. I am uncofmrortable with it. As I said, it's okay if others aren't - and if its someone's actual LJ, fine. But if not, they need to respect that anyone can see.

Besides, Kermit having sex with a plushie is a little disturbing too. You've gotta admit that.

But if it isn't your LJ why should it matter? Shouldn't it be up to the person who LJ it is to say I don't mind or I do?

That happened to me. My mother walked into the room and was looking at what was on the screen, and someone had used the icon that looks sort of like Dan wanking himself. While not a fan of the icon in general, I was a bit horrified when my mother asked about the icon.
