No, I think it's either been consistently about community, or maybe even increasingly so.

I think that even though there's technically more social interaction online (facebook? need I say more?), I think there's less people actually taking an interest in anything other than their own little life. I think for something to really be called a community, there has to be a degree of sharing there. I wouldnt say the net is less interactive by a long shot. But it's less about a community. or I think so anyway.

It's no less of a community, and it's considerably more interactive than it was in the days of webrings. What it's become is shallower, less anonymous and (in the blogosphere) balkanized, all of which are to be mourned.

Well, I don't know if it's the Internet as a whole or if it's just me who has been out of the fandom loop for awhile, but I do feel like I interact less with a community of people who share my interests. And I really do miss it.

Also, I agree with the comment above that it's become shallower and less anonymous. What really ticks me off is the feeling that most people are using the Net to become "celebrities". BNFs, however annoying most of them may have been, hid safely behind their pseudonymes and didn't post pics of themselves in skimpy clothes on Twitter (at least not that I know of).
