Everything changes...
So I've seen three episodes of the first season of Torchwood - the first two and the sixth one.
It's definitely gory, even for me (and I tend to have a lot of stomach for gory in sci fi - I can't watch a character stub their toe in a drama about a teacher who transforms lives forever, but I can watch someone being gored by a demon, go figure), but it's pretty good. I like how they introduced Torchwood through Gwen, who is less jaded than the rest.
The only thing is that I wish now more than ever that I hadn't seen Children of Earth (series three or four) first.
I hope we learn where the other characters came from - I kind of know Jack's background between being around Torchwood fans and having seen CoE, but I don't have a sense of anyone else's. Still, it is quite early.
Incidentally, I'm not watching the show because of my flist, but because my dad's become a fan out of nowhere. He never really liked Doctor Who that much (he thought it was "fine"), but he loves Torchwood. I still have yet to see Doctor Who... I feel like I saw a bit of it years and years ago, but all I remember is a phone box, and that might be because I know they use a phone box to time travel.
