A Harry Potter fanfiction question

In spirit of July 4th/Independence Day...

Does anyone who was/is active in the HP fandom know of any good fanfics that deal with Colonial wizards during the revolution, or colonial days in general?

Alternatively, I'd be interested in any good fanfic that deals with the wizarding world in any region other than the UK and Northern Ireland, as we see it in canon.

I remember you read het and gen. If you're willing to read slash (and, further, Harry/Draco), [livejournal.com profile] blamebrampton's "Beneath Boundless Skies" is pretty good. It's set in Australia.

Hard for me to come up with recs; things set outside the UK are generally so horrible that I don't read them unless I'm familiar with the author.

That's my problem - apart from one fanfic I've read, I haven't really found any that made it work.

Found this post via the Daily Snitch, and I may be a little biased here -- the first fic was written for me -- but I'm reccing [livejournal.com profile] thinkatory's modern American (USian) Cursebreakers series (http://thinkatory.livejournal.com/tag/cursebreakers). It's all OCs and there seems to be UST building up, but it's mostly gen. (I am also assured by the author that more is coming and there is a general plot arc taking shape.)

Inverarity's excellent Alexandra Quick series of 3 (and counting) novel-length fics focuses on the U.S. wizarding world. It is set in the modern day, but has some history and will likely especially be of interest to you because of its portrayals of the various ethnicities and cultures.

I've got that one story that happens in America. But you've probably read it already. Lol!

As to that, I haven't seen many HP stories at all that take place outside the UK.
