Writer's Block: Search for intelligent life

[Error: unknown template qotd]

Let's take a look at some consequences of man stepping upon distant lands:

- Slavery

- Smallpox

- The Trail of Tears

- Imperialism

- The White Man's Burden

- Apartheid

- Stolen Generation

I'd say citizens of distant galaxies have more reason to fear us.

Of course, I'm not insinuating that people would want to do something like that. However, I don't think anyone intended for the above to happen either when they set about their journeys. People aren't born evil; they become evil through power-driven ideas, propaganda they tell themselves, and the propaganda they spread to others.

I agree with you. Leave the poor things alone.

I agree with you too. Although, I will give you one positive thing to come out of colonisation - anthropology.

The only point on which I disagree is that people aren't born evil. I'll go with "people weren't created evil," though. ;)
