Fix Fest

Yes, I have another fest idea. Sort of - I'd like ideas, suggestions, and confirmation that this is an original idea before starting. It would be more like a cross between a challenge and a meme than an actual fest.

We all have "that fanfic." You know, the fic you wrote in your early years of fandom. The fic where your Mary Sue just walks into the Tardis. The fic where Sirius is a drug addict and Remus writes emo poetry on the walls - in blood - every night.  The fic where Buffy becomes a goth, and decides she wants to become a vampire because slaying them is "so yesterday."

My challenge to you? Review, revise, and repost.

The fic can be as horrible as it  happens to be, or it can be a fic that wasn't "badfic" per se, but that you still look at with a frown. It can be multi-chapter, one shot, or heck, even a songfic.

Make it work as much as you can. If the fic predates present canon, you can either still keep it AU, or you can update it.  If it's completely OOC and implausible, find a way to make it at least halfway in character and/or plausible.

Again, I don't think I'd really make it a fest - because there's a difference between revising a five page one shot and a twenty chapter fanfic, there wouldn't be a deadline, and I don't think I'd do a community - although I have thought of it.

(ETA: I 'm actually seriously thinking of doing a community now, upon further reflection.)

Any thoughts?

I like the idea of any fest so go to it. I think this one is a great one.

Oooh, good idea! I even have a fic I'd like to re-use.

Oh mercy... you want me to dig up my Star Wars fic? I... don't think I could ever bring myself to do that.

There's no harm in trying. You might be able to fix it, even if it's just a little.

I think that's a great idea! I know that one of the first Harry/Ginny smutfics I ever wrote was something that I always cringed over, mostly because it had MAJOR grammar issues in it... last year I went back and fixed it and it felt SO good to clean it up. :)

This is a great idea, but it terrifies me! I have all these awful fics from when I was, I think, 14? They're about a korean boy band. I don't think any amount of rewriting would fix this. I'd have to just. write a new story. LOL.
