Please proofread this HTML, for I am trying to figure out where it's unhappy and I am having a hard time finding the broken code. =(

[identity profile] gileonnen.livejournal.com 2006-06-29 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
ETA: The HTML totally works on my website, but somehow not on LJ--possibly delete the codes from the beginning and end? LJ might not accept them, for they are actually supposed to represent notes for the sitemaker to remember that won't show up on the site.

Hrm. The codes to which I referred were anglebracket-exclamationpoint-anglebracket. But they seem to have gone through properly in the comment (because you can't see them!), so now I have NO IDEA what's wrong.

No chance for me too to read thais HTML-salad. :-(
Please try to make it readable again (but post it in a "cut" please, because this entry took almost all space of my "friends" page.)

The trouble with the HTML is probably in the very last line:

[!END BZOINK.COM SURVEY CODE]

should be

[/END BZOINK.COM SURVEY CODE]

[personal profile] snorkackcatcher 2006-06-29 03:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't make any difference -- that's not HTML code anyway?

[identity profile] mbs-bookworm.livejournal.com 2006-06-29 03:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, maybe she should delete that altogether.

[identity profile] gileonnen.livejournal.com 2006-06-29 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Actually it is; it stands for hidden text that only shows up in the source code. *did lengthy and overdramatic explication of it above that totally FAILED AT helping fix the problem*

[identity profile] jamc91.livejournal.com 2006-06-29 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually think the problem could lie in rich-text mode.

We'd all like to read your survey! :)

Fixed here! http://author-by-night.livejournal.com/153990.html?view=1309062#t1309062

I'd guess that the problem is caused by using the rich text editor as well ... if you want to post raw HTML, you have to be using the basic editor, or else everything you type in is assumed to be ordinary text, and all the < and > characters are 'escaped' and replaced by HTML entities so it doesn't get interpreted as HTML markup. If you use the 'View Source' command on the page, all of the < and > characters in that block have been replaced by < and > respectively.

Yep, looks like it; GOSH am I glad I never use rich text mode!

[identity profile] pickleprincess.livejournal.com 2006-06-29 05:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh, I can't help you at all because I'm crap with computers, but it made me laugh because there's all this html and then in the middle - it caught my eye - it just says "The Weird Sisters".

They're my favorite band too, honestly. Well, and Harry and the Potters.

[identity profile] ronkaperplexous.livejournal.com 2006-06-29 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Eeep! I think you need to fix your tags!

[identity profile] gloryforever.livejournal.com 2006-06-29 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
The problem is, in my very humble opinion, that you had the rich text formatting on when you cut/pasted this ... but if people click on the link at the very end, they can see the survey properly.

Not with the answers they can't.
