COOLNESS!

No, this isn't about book seven. But something that's still cool is there! :D

Well, the problem is that Bellatrix is supposed to be older than Narcissa, but she's also described as a member of the "gang of Slytherins" that Snape used to hang out with in school, which seems quite unlikely if she's 5+ years older than him.

Oh! Yeah, that is a problem. I honestly decided Sirius was either talking about Rabastan and Rodolphous (who could've been a bit younger), Snape was friends with the older students, or Sirius was just being bitter. After all, he also said Snape was really popular, when OoTP contradicted that.

Plus, JKR contradicts herself. The tree also makes it look like wizards have perfectly normal life spans, when she said they had longer ones...

I don't think he says that Snape was popular, exactly -- just that he was "famous" for his interest in the Dark Arts, and that he was "part of a gang of Slytherins who nearly all turned out to be Death Eaters."

But yeah, I have a feeling JKR has forgotten all about that gang -- which is a shame, since Narcissa Malfoy's 1975 was one of the first really good fanfics I read, and I've had a soft spot for the whole crew ever since.

Well, I think between GoF and OoTP, JKR did a lot of canon shifting. I doubt Mafalda the Weasley Cousin was the only edit. It took three years, and a lot happens plotwise in that time frame. You decide "I don't like this idea anymore", etc.

She is? Argh.
