"It's... interesting.
I'm holding out hope that it'll get better.
It's definitely not Angel/Buffy/Firefly.
It's disappointing."

I checked all four of those, because all the episodes feel both interesting and disappointing at the same time, somehow?

It's very unWhedony, is my main thought. But it's definitely still watchable.

It's not "Whedony" in terms of the snappy dialogue. If someone was expecting that, they'd be disappointed. But I love the mystery elements and the slow reveal.

Is this a TV show? Never heard of it! I thought you were talking about the play.

i've never heard of it, actually.

It's intriguing but it's also not Buffy/Angel/Firefly. That said, it needs time to develop. Neither Buffy nor Angel had wonderful first seasons, IMO--they were good, but not up to the quality of the later seasons. (Firefly, I think, did have a fantastic first season but I still love BtVS/Angel more.)

It's not "Whedony" in terms of the snappy dialogue.

I'm definitely feeling that lack. But at the same time it shows a lot of promise, and they seem to be developing some interesting complexity.

Sigh. I'm currently hoping it will get better/it's disappointing/I hate this show already. I'm willing to put aside the hatred for a little longer. I've been told that Ep 4 is better and that Ep 6 is where it finds its groove. I thought Ep 2 was better than Ep 1 (which frankly, I would label with the word "travesty") and I was encouraged, but then Ep 3 was nearly as bad as Ep 1 (well, no, not nearly a travesty... just not good.)

I shall probably watch Ep 4 tomorrow in fact, since that's the next time I have free to watch something and I'm all caught up on BSG and Burn Notice and Life.

I think this is the one I saw some ad with Eliza Dushku? If it's on FOX then I'm SOL. STC here I come!

I've only seen the first episode minus the first 5-10 minutes of that. I was confused by it and just felt like it was lacking. I've been meaning to watch more, but the timeslot is horrible! Apparently I'm busier on Friday nights than I thought.

I think the problem with Dollhouse is that with a character who is, by definition, a blank slate, you can't really invest in her enough to be interested in the show. I started watching the first episode online, but I never finished it. The weird thing is, I was really interested in all the things that happened at the Dollhouse, but the minute she went out on the "missions," or whatever it is they're called, I could not have cared less what was going on. This personality was not the one I liked, and I had no investment in watching her do things.

However, I did watch what I think was the third episode (the one with the suicidal singer and her stalker, I don't know the number exactly), and I liked that one more, so I'm going to give it a chance. They said something about some of Echo's traits continuing in her new personalities, and if that starts to happen enough that I still feel like I'm watching the same character, I think I'll like the show a lot more.

(I'm a HUGE Pretender fan, but with that show, no matter who he was pretending to be, he was still essentially Jarod. Dollhouse is going to have to find a way to make their Doll always essentially Echo if they want me to care about her enough to keep watching.)
