Cooly enough the Swans were actually founders of the town of Forks.

It's a bummer I think the books are so misinterpreted. I never got the snark either. I mean, I'm all for saying/doing/feeling whatever way you want and I probably shouldn't have clicked, but I don't know how snark can be friendly. :-(
