Ficverse
Shaggydogstail made a list of things she's made up about the characters in her ficverse, so I'm continuing the meme.
1. Remus has a little sister, Artemis. Most of you know this already. She's twelve years younger than Remus, the same age as Tonks.
2. Artemis and Tonks are best friends. They were flower girls at Lily and James's wedding. Lily wanted two and didn't know who else to ask, so Remus volunteered Artemis, and Sirius and Andromeda were starting to reconnect, so as a final gesture, he asked her only daughter to be a flower girl. They were also best friends with Bill and Charlie at Hogwarts, but grew apart - Artemis went to Asia to study magical creatures, Charlie went to Romania, Bill went to Egypt , and Tonks was the only one left
in England.
3. Remus's mother is of Greek heritage, hence her name. Her parents were always trying to embrace their Greek heritage, so they named her Circe, not realizing who exactly Circe was in Greek Mythology. It was a huge shock when she became a Witch!
(Actually, the real story is that I called Circe Circe, then remembered who she was, but she remained Circe to me). But anyway, it's why Artemis is named, well, Artemis. As well as the fact that she's the Goddess of the Moon, and it was after Remus had been accepted into Hogwarts, so it seemed appropriate.
As for "Remus" - runs in his father's side of the family.
4. Sirius, Regulus and their cousins were all close as children. Then they disagreed on things, to say the very least, and obviously grew apart. Andromeda still considers herself a Black, but hates her family at the same time, so she's very torn. Narcissa has the same problem, and Regulus did, which was why he turned back to the Good Side. Sirius may have been like that too at some point, I'm not sure - but post-Azkaban, I think he
cared as little as Bellatrix did.
5. Remus pretty much distances himself from his family during the rough spots. By the time his relationship with Tonks started, he'd long stopped doing that, but then he had a huge setback in HBP, as we saw.
6. Wealthy famillies, and some regular famillies, have tutors. Shaggydogstail and I both decided this without knowing. I have that they are even tutored in groups - that's how James met Regulus and Sirius, they were all in the same "Learning Group," along with Narcissa, Regulus, and Lucius.
(Bellatrix and Andromeda would've already been at Hogwarts, but they had the same person). And now, Fleur and Remus teach their children in a
group, possibly with some others. Haven't decided.
7. The reason we never met Lily's friends is because they all either died or grew apart. With one exception - Gwen, and it's a bit awkward for her. Plus, I don't think Harry's had a reason to meet Lily's friends. He's not the sort of person who might really even react if he did - when he found out Remus knew James, his mind jumped to Sirius. Harry's just not the nostalgic type, with a few small exceptions.
8. Lily and Remus weren't in love, but something was once there. The "something", however, was more or less one of those typical kiddy crushes whn they were first year. It lasted about one week. But they always had an understanding of some sort - it just wasn't romantic. No love triangle.
9. Dorcas has an interesting past. Her parents were Jewish, and lived in the Netherlands. Her real name is Abigail Cohen, but when she got sent to live with her Mum's cousin, Beth Meadowes, it got changed to Dorcas Meadowes. The name stuck. She was starting to research the Jewish religion, and was beginning to become deeply religious when she died. She was in Slytherin, and her friends were Alastor and Eileen. Yes, that Alastor, yes,
that Eileen.
10. Dumbledore collected Muggle fantasy. It just seems like him. He especially liked the Muggle version of Merlin.
Okay - either do this on your LJ, or the comments. :D
