I'm not sure what you read, but for me it didn't really get "worse" - well, I guess it depends on your definitions, but the full scene didn't come off as sexual to me, and I'd much rather a main character hallucinate strangling a woman rather than raping her.

I think Roger definitely has a drinking problem, but I'm not sure if that's why he was flinging money around. Still, I want to know as well!
