Regarding LJ cuts...

Does anyone elses's LJ scroll immediately to the first or second paragraph when clicking on fic cuts?

Because I just asked someone to keep in mind that LJ does that, (the fic was R), only to then realize, judging by her and someone elses's reactions, that not everyone's LJ does do that.

I feel bad now, and a little annoyed. Is it my computer, or LJ being stupid?

Unsent Letters

There was an Ten Unsent Letters challenge ages ago.

I never ended up doing anything for it, so I'm making up for it now.

Mum,

I don't hate you. I'm sorry I said that.

I just don't understand why you yelled at me for talking about my new friend. I know he's a muggleborn, but he's not like most of them.

(Andromeda burns the letter in fear it will get her into even more trouble).

*

Ted,

We can't see one another anymore.

It isn't your fault you are a muggleborn - I know that. And I have nothing against your parents. Actually, they are really nice. I can already imagine them
as the grandparents of our children. Oh, Ted... I love you so much.

However, it is not meant to be. I am a Black, and Blacks do not leave those who raised them, and those who look up to them. Why, Mum's heart would
break to pieces if I left, and Narcissa would lose an older sister.  I cannot do that to them.

(Andromeda realizes she is crying, and throws the letter into the Common Room fire. She can't hurt Ted either... and he is the one who understands
her more than anyone else).

*

Bellatrix,

I'm getting married. Yes, it is to Ted Tonks.

No "Mudblood" comments. Ted is a great man, and he is the one I love. You can do nothing to make me feel otherwise.

But Bella, I miss you. I want you at my wedding. In fact, I want you and Narcissa to be my Maids of Honour. It is, after all, family tradition.
(Andromeda knows, in her heart, that Bellatrix no longer considers her family, so those words won't matter.)

*

Sirius,

I saw you and your friends yesterday, at Hogsmeade. James was there too.

That must mean you're thirteen now. Thirteen!

How are you doing? I haven't spoken to you since you were nine.

I sometimes feel bad that you and Regulus don't even know you are second cousins, but it is best we don't speak. Your mother would probably kill
all of us,

if Bellatrix didn't get there first.  With those rumors that are going around, I have to take safety into account.

James ought to know, though, that Nymphadora is named after his aunt, Dorea Potter. The "nymph" is because Ted's Mum loves Nymphs.

Don't laugh - when you have a mother in law, you'll understand.

Not that I don't love Mrs. Tonks! She's so much like a second mother... my own mother and I... well, I can't speak with her much either, can I?

Maybe I ought to send this Owl. Nobody will find out.

(Andromeda decides to go with safety first, and puts the letter under a picture of Regulus and Sirius as children).

*

Narcissa,

Tell me you aren't a Death Eater.

(Andromeda covers her eyes, trying to suppress the memories of seeing a familiar looking hand emerging from a robe in the front page of
The Daily Prophet. The letter is crumbled into a ball).

*

Sirius,

I really enjoyed our reunion, no matter what the circumstances were.

I admit, it feels strange that last summer, you ran away to James Potter's, but we haven't spoken in so long that I also understand. Besides, the fact
that you came here after what happened at Hogwarts is admirable.

Thank Dumbledore for allowing you to even find where I lived and floo yourself here.

Sirius, you said you feel you may be as bad as our family for almost killing that boy. You aren't; they would never, ever have shown regret.

I'm sorry I didn't know what to say, and could only offer tea.

(Ted sees Andromeda writing the letter, and urges her to tell Sirius to meet her in Hogsmeade and tell him all that to his face. She meets with him in
Hogsmeade, but never manages to get out the words that are so much easier to write down.)

*

Bellatrix,

Thanks for the death threat.

I'm not turning against my husband and child.

Blacks, after all, do not do such things.

(Andromeda starts sobbing, and hugs a confused Dora tightly.)

*

Regulus,

You aren't dead.

Why didn't you tell me you needed a place to hide?

Sirius found me... why couldn't you? Did you hate me that much for leaving?

(Andromeda tears the letter apart, and throws it away. It isn't as though he can read it).

*

Mr. Crouch,

Yes, Sirius is my cousin. Yes, I am emotionally involved.

WHICH IS HOW I KNOW HE DID NOT KILL THEM ON PURPOSE.

I don't know why he did it, but clearly, he lost his mind.

It is a warm bed in St. Mungo's he needs. Not Azkaban.

Maybe we all needed warm beds.

It's all my fault....

(Andromeda knows sending the letter is pointless, and that she can never admit to feeling it is her fault anyhow).

*

Mum,

If I had never left, do you think things would be different? Could I have helped Bellatrix and Sirius and saved Regulus?

Who will be next? Cissy? Father? You?

(Andromeda wipes away a tear, and realizes she has smudged her writing).
